Pride is an award winning film about the unlikely alliance between striking miners and the gay and lesbian community in Britain in the 1980s.
Based on a true story set during the miners’ strike of 1984 in Thatcher’s Britain, the film is based on the story of a group of gay activists working to help support the striking miners — despite the fact that the miners aren’t exactly thrilled by the prospect of throwing in their lot with gays.
This is your chance to hear Larry Hanks and Deborah Robins in concert at the Old Labor Hall on the New England leg of their 2018 Road to Obscurity Tour. You will hear "OLD AMERICAN SONGS from Old American Songsters!"
Larry Hanks and Deborah Robins don’t try to complicate a song. They don’t add frills and trills and needless grace notes. Instead, they choose great old songs and sing them in a straightforward way that gets right to the essence of the music.
For the sixth year, the Old Labor Hall adds Barre, VT, to the worldwide list of cities participating in the 2018 Global Labor Film Festival (held each May by the Labor Film Database).
This year we are screening the classic Harlan County, USA, the first feature-length documentary by legendary filmmaker Barbara Kopple. The film tells the story of the epic 973 coal miners' strike against Duke Power's Eastover Mining Company in Harlan County, Kentucky.
For Primo Maggio 2018, the Socialist Labor Party Hall continues the tradition of Primo Maggio commemorations begun by the founders of the Hall with the combination of food, fun, and education favored in the early days of the Hall.
